Petalpaw's first training

Birdflight led Petalpaw out of camp and into an open area that seemed perfect for training. "Today we'll to battle training." He mewed, facing Petalpaw. "I'll show you some moves to start with, then we can practice them in a fake battle."

"Sure." she said. Anything to stop this boredom.

"Let's try the Front Paw Blow. I'll show you, and then you can try to use it on me. Keep your claws sheathed." He mewed, before striking a lightning-fast paw through the air and bringing it back. Any unlucky warrior wouldv'e had a hard blow to the face. "Now you try." Birdflight mewed with a nod, bracing himself.

Petalpaw did as she was shown, not putting much force into the move.

Birdflight narrowed his eyes. "In battle, use all the force you can. I don't mind, as long as your claws stay sheathed." He huffed. "Now do it again, but harder!" he hissed, trying to sound threatening to get his apprentice rilded up a little.

"Fine, but I don't see the point..." She did the same as last time, but putting all she had into the blow.

Birdflight cringed at the stronger blow, but recovered quickly. "Good. The point is your life is on the line in battle. A good warrior gives it all he or she has." He explained. "Now let's try something else. Instead of practicing on me this time, we'll try something that requires your claws unsheathed. See that tree over there? You'll rear up, and strike both paws across it in a quick strike. It's called 'Front Paw Strike'." He mewed, going over to the tree and demonstrating. "Here's where it'll be a little more fun, if anything. Try to see how deep of marks you can do in the tree bark. The deeper you cut, the more damage you do on your opponent."

Petalpaw did as wanted of her. She unsheathed, long, but dull claws, doing as she was told. She put little strength to it, but made it just enough that it looked like she tried.

"Good. Try again, and remember to put all your strength in it." Birdflight mewed, inspecting the marks on the tree. He was determined to get her as strong as he could.

Does he know? Petalpaw did the same, using full force. She wasn't very happy about training anymore.

"Great!" He purred. "Imagine how easily you could win in battle. You have a true gift in strength." He praised, examining the deep scores in the bark. "Let's try something better now. Claws sheathed this time, because you have to practice on me for this one. It's called the Belly-rake." He explained. "You dive under your opponent and twist, raking their belly with your claws before coming around behind them and face them, ready for a new attack." With that, he suddenly shot under Petalpaw, his paws dealing great force as he pretended to slam in his claws and rip them along, when he was really just skimming his sheathed paws across her stomach. He came out behind her, in an attack stance already, tail swishing. "Like that. Go!" He hissed, bracing himself again.

Petalpaw did the same as her mentor did. This time using her full power, and not just a small fraction of it.

Birdflight was almost swept off his paws, and barely held his ground. "Good job. You almost knocked me down, which is more than required to beat an enemy." He purred, steadying himself.

"Now let's try two last moves. First one is called Leap-and-hold." Birdflight began. "You launch yourself onto the opponents back, clinging to their fur with your claws and hold them until they seem weak. Then you jump off before they can muster the strength to launch a sudden attack." He explained, leaping towards the tree, claws extended, and gripping it, claws deep in the bark. He scraped them repeatedly and deep down in the bark before back-flipping off. "Like that." He mewed, turning to his apprentice.

ooc: You know the rule of the dice, I assume? Oh and attack the tree bark, you don't have to go through all the turns because we are just training.

Petalpaw watched the move more this time, knowing she was getting into the better moves. She did the same as he did, trying to master it.

"Perfect." Birdflight breathed in amazement. "You're a natural! Okay, just one more move to do." He added, whisking up a tree. "Balance on branch, make no sound. Drop on the enemy with claws unsheathed for maximum injury!" He explained, dropping down like a hawk, claws extended and teeth bared. He landed, shredding the ground beneath him. He looked up at Petalpaw with a nod. "Now you try. This move is a special move. Only skyclan knows it, and it's called Sky-slice."

Petalpaw climbed her way up the tree, leaving small marks. When she was up on the brach, she waited a little to catch her breath. When she was done with that, she jumped down, and clawed at the ground, as her mentor did.

"Good. Now there is another one, but it's basically the same thing as Sky-slice, only you sheathe your claws and land on their shoulders to stun them instead of attacking, and it's called Sky-crusher. We don't have to practice that one unless you really want to though because it's practically the same thing. If you think you're ready, let's go back to camp." Birdflight mewed.

Petalpaw started to head off to camp, not looking to see if her mentor followed.

Birdflight followed, keeping her in site.
