Nightpaw's Battle Training

Birdflight sat down at the camp entrance, waiting for his apprentice, Nightpaw.

Nightpaw yawned "What are we doing today?"

"Battle training. Are you ready to go?" Birdflight asked.

"Yes please!" he waited for Birdflight to lead him.

Birdflight nodded and led Nightpaw to a small clearing. "Here's where Skyclan trains for battle. First, we are going to try some basic moves. That tree right over there-" His tail flicked at a small tree sapling "...can be your practice opponent. That way, if you use something like Leap-and-Hold, you can actually practice to the move's fullest...in other words, use your claws." He explained.

Nightpaw nodded and bounded up to the tree, he crouched down, leapt up and slashed the trunk of the tree with his claws, tearing the bark. "Like that?"

Birdflight twitched an ear, obviously not satisfied. "When you first see an enemy, you do not just run straight up to them with no guard on, and begin slashing them wildly. This is why we have moves." He huffed, padding over. Suddenly he shot away, reappearing on the other side of the tree and rearing up, lashing out each paw in turn with surprising speed. His claws left deep marks in the tree bark, and once he had lashed out just twice, he backed away, ready for the tree's "next move"(lul) in just split-second of attack. "That's how. It may look hard at first, but it's really easy." He mewed, getting up.

Nightpaw nodded, squinted his eyes and stepped back. Her ran up to the tree and slashed wildly at the trunk. His heavy paws tearing at the bark. Once he was finished, looked like a work of art. "Like that?" he asked.

"Decent. Make sure to keep your balance, and try to be a little quicker. But let's move on anyways." He mewed. "Next we have Frost paw blow, which is like front paw strike except faster. The only catch is, it's more of a defense move and isn't very strong." Birdflight reared up, doing something similar to before except he only swiped once with one paw before whisking backwards out of "reach" of the tree. However, even though he only left a little gash in the tree, he was extremely quick, like the energy of an excited kit bubbling up into one swipe.

Occ: *Front..lol =P

Ic: Nightpaw watched, he reared back and with all his might took a heavy paw and slashed at the tree, leaving more claw marks on the trunk.

"Try again, but faster." Birdflight ordered simply.

ooc: He's a little...strict X3 But it's only because he wants to make the apprentice as strong as possible :u

Occ: That's good ^^ He turns out to be evil anyways 030

Ic: Nightpaw grunted, he took a few steps back. He ran forward and lashed out, his paw made a thump as the bark of the tree stripped off.

"Good. This next move is trickier. Leap-and-hold!" He hissed, leaping at the tree, claws digging in and ripping down the bark repeatedly before jumping off. There were very deep grooves in the tree where he had shredded the bark.

ooc: You don't have to use the dice since you already know how to use it and they are just practicing so it's not like he's gonna hang there until the tree smacks him off with its magical branches.

Nightpaw nodded, after he was finished, he copied him. Making heavy thumps on the tree as his claws sank into the bark.

"Decently done. Next, we'll try Belly Rake. Sheath your claws, because you'll be trying this on me." He mewed, suddenly flashing forward, twisting. His paws heaved up Nightpaw as Birdflight did a Belly Rake, quickly facing him from the other side. "Like that."

Nightpaw copied him because i'm too lazy to type. "Like that?"

"Fine. Remember to keep up your practice, and soon you'll be one of the best fighters in the clan. Now let's go back to camp. Today's lesson is over." Birdflight meowed, padding away.

Nightpaw wearily followed him back.
