Brightstar's Bored

Brightstar sat in her den, nibbling at a small squirrel. Since she's been expecting, she doesn't have much of an appetite anymore. She sighed, closing her eyes for a second, and licking the fur on her belly, feeling the kits growing inside her, and it made her shudder for a quick second. She took another small bite from the squirrel before tossing it aside and rolling on her side, feeling the warmth of the moss nest. She just wished they were back in WindClan. Brightstar had gotten really homesick for the past weeks they've been in ThunderClan. "Home..." She whispered the suttle word to herself, remembering when she was just a tiny kit, trying to save her brother when they came to WindClan. Ivoryleaf... she took them in. Nursed them. Gave them hope, and when she died Brightstar had been heartbroken. Seeing the cat at Moonstone meant so much to her... and now she's sitting in a small moss bed, expecting kits, in a ThunderClan nursery, with her territory burnt down.
What has WindClan come to?

Mintleaf poked her head in the nursery. Being a loyal Thunderclan warrior was one thing. Being an honorable warrior at all was another. "Need anything, Brightstar? You look a bit down." She mewed, dipping her head in respect to the windclan leader.

Brightstar's head perked up at the sound of another warrior's voice. "Oh. Hello, Mintleaf," she purred, licking her paw. "No, I don't. It's just that... I miss WindClan." She let out a gentle sigh, imagining what the territory would look like now... probably just a bunch of ashes.

Mintleaf sat down. "Everything will be alright. Wind will blow away the ashes, and the grass will regrow." She mewed gently with a soft smile. "Plus, you got your clanmates here."

"Yes, but..." Brightstar looked away. "We wouldn't be here if I warned my Clan..." She looked back up at Mintleaf. "Patchstar had sent me a warning, and I chose not to follow... and now my territory has been ruined."

"Don't be so hard on yourself. Even if you had evacuated earlier, the outcome wouldn't have changed. There was still a fire, and not much you can do to put it out." She mewed softly with a sympathetic smile. "It was just destiny, I suppose. With every bad destiny could come a better one, you know."

Brightstar nodded briefly. "I guess so... I think I'm just a little stressed from everything going on," she sighed.

"Well I'm here for you." Mintleaf smiled.

Brightstar nodded. "Of course... thank you, Mintleaf."
