A Trout Stops Swimming
Trouttail padded around the territory, bored. He didn't want to hunt because he just felt like being lazy. He heard paw steps dashing across the ground and he whipped his head back and forth. Blur of red and a fox was on him in an instant, snapping his jaws. Kicking the fox off, Trouttail ran to the stream and slid into a hole in the mod, probably the burrow of an otter, or something. He hid, watching as the fox paced back and forth, waiting for Trouttail to be stupid and slip out and meet his demise. But the fox would occasionally snap his jaws in, and miss every time and get a mouthful of mud. Trouttail began looking around, searching for an escape. One branch led down towards the farther parts of the banks, where you would come out in the stream nearly. Another branch led to the right. Trouttail followed the Stream Tunnel, and come out in the water. He slipped right in, water rolling of his sleek pelt, and the mud dripping off gradually. He turned occasionally to see if the fox saw him, but the thin, red-furred creature was still pacing in front of the burrow. Trouttail came out on the banks, not bothering to dry his fur, and he began running full speed to the camp. But, no sooner than he started had he stopped. Snapping jaws sunk down into his tail and he screeched in agony as he whipped around to see the fox gnawing his tail. He yanked free and reared up on his hind legs, swiping the fox in the face and catching one of it's eyes. The fox howled and yelped, running blindly to the stream and tripping in, but it quickly scrambled to the banks. The fox took a leap and barreled half-blind into Trouttail's side, forcing him into a tree. A loud, horrible, snap filled the air as just about all the bones in his body broke. He let out a winded, basically useless screech of agony as his body started to loose life.
