-_- Wrong answer

"Fine, you want to know?" he asked Foxkit.

"Yeah," Foxkit replied.

"Don't take it the wrong way, but it was kind of cute." he said looking down at his paws, still with a smile.

Foxkit blinked surprised, "Falling out of a tree is cute?"

"The way you did it, so helpless." he said half in a laugh, shaking his head.

"Again, that was a one time thing," Foxkit laughed.

"Well, if it happens again, I hope I'll be there." he said. I will be there before you die.

"Because it's "cute"?" Foxkit asked.

"Nope." he said patting her on the head like he did when he woke her up.

"Well then why?" she wondered.

There are two reasons, but it's best if I tell you only one. I live to help my clan."

Now Foxkit was curious. "Can't you tell me the other one, too?"

Deadkit shook his head.

"Why not?" Foxkit really wanted to know what the other reason was.

"I'd rather not tell." he said looking up at her, waiting for her reaction.

"Awhhh, come on, please Deadkit?" Foxkit pleaded.

Deadkit knew she wouldn't give up, so he gave her a fake one, "I just feel closer to you when I save you."

"Oh," Foxkit smiled, pleased with this answer.

"Well, you have your answer." Or at least the fake one.

"Yeah, thank you for answering!" She purred, happily.

"Why so happy?" he asked again, since the first time he didn't get an answer.

"Now you're finally talking to me a lot and I like it. When I first talked to you, you didn't say that much," she replied, smiling. "I'm glad we're friends."

"I am too." he said with a smile of his own. But the question still stands. I know that can't be the real answer.
