Hunting Patrol

Squirrelstar padded nimbly and gracefully across the ground, longing to be up in the trees. But she promised to stay on ground-level until her Clanmates caught up, then they would begin hunting. Nightpaw, Willowpaw, Leopardclaw-Hurry up! she thought, paws itching to be in the trees. Then a thought came to her. She leaped onto a branch, looking down at the floor. I'll scare them! she thought, a sense of her young humor flashing in her eyes.

Squirrelstar smiled and licked the thin trace of blood from her shoulder. "Now I have a battle scar from my own Clanmates. Who's to blame?" she teased, looking over to Nightpaw.
